D.D. van Löben Sels is a professional artist and graphic designer based in Oakland, California. She studied painting and sculpture at the University of California, Berkeley; graduating with a B.A. in Art. 

D.D.'s work includes paintings, graphic design, art and gifts for events, murals and custom tile projects for individuals and businesses.

Two of D.D.’s tile projects were featured in national publications: with Sandra Bird Kitchens in Better Homes & Gardens, Kitchen & Bath Ideas; with Geoffrey Frost, Frost Design, in Designers West magazine.

Combining her work as an artist with community involvement, D.D. worked with the Junior League of Oakland-East Bay to found its Graphic Design Service to provide graphic art for non-profit organizations. For four years, D.D. served as Executive Director of the Oakland Festival of the Arts to showcase performing and visual arts.

D.D. participated in strategic planning for the City of Oakland’s Steering Committee on Cultural Development and for the Oakland Museum Art Department’s Long Range Planning Committee. D.D. also worked as a consultant for the Bakersfield Museum of Art.

D.D. has received recognition for her work in the arts and in philanthropy from the City of Oakland, Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors, California State Assembly, YWCA and the University of California, Berkeley.
