ART AND PHILANTHROPY

During the past 30+ years D.D. has combined her work as an artist with promoting the arts and philanthropy in the San Francisco East Bay Area. Working with the Junior League of Oakland-East Bay, D.D. founded its Graphic Design Service to provide graphic art for community organizations in the East Bay Area. She is a past President of the Junior League of Oakland-East Bay. For four years D.D. served as Executive Director of the Oakland Festival of the Arts, an organization devoted to showcasing performing and visual arts.

Through her involvement with the East Bay Community Foundation for nearly six years, three as Chairman of the Board, D.D. focused on community issues including arts and culture. She participated in strategic planning for the City of Oakland Steering Committee on Cultural Development and for the Oakland Museum Art Department Long Range Planning Committee. D.D. also worked as a consultant for the Bakersfield Museum of Art.

Over the years, D.D. has received recognition for her work in the arts and in philanthropy from the City of Oakland, Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors, California State Assembly, YWCA and the University of California, Berkeley.
